Roof damage after hail storm

November 1, 2019 //  by Maximo Soto

Identifying hail damage on some of your things can be very easy and straightforward.  The round dings in metal such as a car, gutters or patio furniture are obvious signs of hail damage. Spotting hail damage up on a roof can be a much more difficult task.  Storm damage, even if it doesn’t appear to be much, can be very detrimental to the protection of your home.  It’s important to take good care of your roof and make sure that it well maintained.  Storm damage from wind or hail can lead to major structural break down later on.  Insurance companies will often suggest and approve a roof replacement due to hail damage.  Hiring a professional roofing company to assist in this process is quite common and productive, but you can also check for hail damage in a few easy steps.

  2. Step 2 – Check ridge vent areas for dents.  Hail damage can be seen there since it is a flat surface easy to take hits from a hail storm.
  3. Step 3 – Check shingles for hail damage.   A shingle can lose granules from hail hits.  It will look like small black spots showing through where granules used to be.  Hail damage can also look or feel like a small dent.  Another sign of shingle damage can be small cracks
